God's Plan of Salvation

Why are we here?  God created us and everything else in the universe.

In the beginning God created the heaven and the earth… So God created man in his own image, in the image of God created he him; male and female created he them… And God saw every thing that he had made, and, behold, it was very good” (Genesis 1:1, 27, 31)

Why is the world full of evil and suffering?  The original man sinned and brought a curse upon all creation.

Wherefore, as by one man sin entered into the world, and death by sin; and so death passed upon all men, for that all have sinned…” (Romans 5:12)

For we know that the whole creation groaneth and travaileth in pain together until now.” (Romans 8:22)

What happens after death?  All human beings will face their Creator

And as it is appointed unto men once to die, but after this the judgment…” (Hebrews 9:27)

We all do things we don’t want to do or shouldn’t do because we are born with a sinful nature wanting to go our own way.

All we like sheep have gone astray; we have turned every one to his own way…” (Isaiah 53:6a)

The heart is deceitful above all things, and desperately wicked: who can know it?” (Jeremiah 17:9)

When we compare our everyday choices and actions with God’s moral law we see how far short we fall of God’s standard.

  •       Thou shalt have no other gods before me  [Do you always do everything God wants you to do?]
  •       Thou shalt not make unto thee any graven image
  •       Thou shalt not take the name of the LORD thy God in vain
  •       Remember the Sabbath day, to keep it holy
  •       Honor thy father and thy mother  [Have you ever rebelled against your parents?]
  •       Thou shalt not kill (murder)  [Jesus said to have hatred in your heart for another person is the same as murder]
  •       Thou shalt not commit adultery  [Jesus said to lust in your heart after another person is the same as adultery]
  •       Thou shalt not steal  [Have you ever taken anything that didn’t belong to you?]
  •       Thou shalt not bear false witness against thy neighbor  [Have you ever told a lie?]
  •       Thou shalt not covet  [Have you ever become jealous over something that someone else has?]  (Exodus 20)

Why was the Bible written?  The Bible was written so that you might escape God’s judgment of sin and receive eternal life through His Son Jesus Christ.

And this is the record, that God hath given to us eternal life, and this life is in his Son.  He that hath the Son hath life; and he that hath not the Son of God hath not life.  These things have I written unto you that believe on the name of the Son of God; that ye may know that ye have eternal life, and that ye may believe on the name of the Son of God.” (1John 5:11-13)

How can I escape God’s judgment upon sinners?  Come to God on His terms of peace offered through the substitutionary death of His Son Jesus Christ on the cross through repentance and faith.

Jesus Christ God’s Son lived a perfect, sinless life while on earth.  He demonstrated that He was God by the mighty miracles recorded for us in the gospels.  His life culminated in His death on the cross and resurrection three days later.

For when we were yet without strength, in due time Christ died for the ungodly.  For scarcely for a righteous man will one die: yet peradventure for a good man some would even dare to die.  But God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us.” (Romans 5:6-8)

For the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord.” (Romans 6:23)

That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved.  For with the heart man believeth unto righteousness; and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation.  For the scripture saith, Whosoever believeth on him shall not be ashamed.  For there is no difference between the Jew and the Greek: for the same Lord over all is rich unto all that call upon him.  For whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved.” (Romans 10:9-13)

Neither is there salvation in any other: for there is none other name under heaven given among men, whereby we must be saved.” (Acts 4:12)

And the times of this ignorance God winked at; but now commandeth all men every where to repent:  Because he hath appointed a day, in the which he will judge the world in righteousness by that man whom he hath ordained; whereof he hath given assurance unto all men, in that he hath raised him from the dead.” (Acts 17:30-31)

And I saw the dead, small and great, stand before God; and the books were opened: and another book was opened, which is the book of life: and the dead were judged out of those things which were written in the books, according to their works.  And the sea gave up the dead which were in it; and death and hell delivered up the dead which were in them: and they were judged every man according to their works.  And death and hell were cast into the lake of fire. This is the second death.  And whosoever was not found written in the book of life was cast into the lake of fire.” (Revelation 20:12-15)

Jesus is coming again to set up His kingdom on this earth and make right all that has been wronged by man’s sin, including the lifting of the curse on creation.

Blessed and holy is he that hath part in the first resurrection: on such the second death hath no power, but they shall be priests of God and of Christ, and shall reign with him a thousand years.” (Revelation 20:6)

The wolf also shall dwell with the lamb, and the leopard shall lie down with the kid; and the calf and the young lion and the fatling together; and a little child shall lead them.  And the cow and the bear shall feed; their young ones shall lie down together: and the lion shall eat straw like the ox.  And the sucking child shall play on the hole of the asp, and the weaned child shall put his hand on the cockatrice' den.  They shall not hurt nor destroy in all my holy mountain: for the earth shall be full of the knowledge of the LORD, as the waters cover the sea.” (Isaiah 11:6-9)

Are you willing to…

  • Admit that you are a sinner?
  • Believe that Jesus took your place and paid for your sin on the cross?
  • Repent (change your attitude to one of grief) of your sins and follow Jesus?
  • Turn in trust to Jesus as your Lord and Saviour?
