A Compromised Testimony
How to Build a Godly Testimony (22:1-4)
- Through obedience
- Through victory
Obedience to the Word of God
- Praying without ceasing (1 Thess. 5:17)
- Studying the Word of God (1 Tim. 2:15)
- Giving thanks in all things (1 Thess. 5:18)
- Abstaining from all appearance of evil (1 Thess. 5:22)
- Faithfully meeting together with the saints/church attendance (Heb 10:25)
Victory over Temptation
- Displaying patience in trials (James 1:2-4)
- Enduring and not being overcome by temptation (James 1:12)
- Yielding yourself an instrument of righteousness (Rom. 6:11-13)
How to Compromise Your Testimony (22:10-34)
- Love something more than God (Numbers 32:1-5). Your testimony becomes compromised by your idolatry.
- Settle for second best (Joshua 22:9-10,19). Your testimony becomes compromised by your complacency.
- Ignore the conviction of the Holy Spirit (Joshua 22:10). Your testimony becomes compromised by your hard-heartedness.
- Become comfortable with a form of godliness (Joshua 22:10,34). Your testimony becomes compromised by your hypocrisy.
